It’s the other famous Polynesian Resort lounge! For this rendition of our Disney at home recipes, we’re getting tropical and sharing our Trader Sam’s HippopotoMai-Tai recipe. Say that 5 times fast! We’ll wait. Pretty hard, right? Anyways, Trader Sam’s is known for two things, the ambiance or better known as the show, and out of this world tiki drinks. You go for the show, but if you’re like us you stay for the cocktails. Alright, the time has come to get this tropical tiki show on the road. Grab those cocktail shakers we’re making our Trader Sam’s HippopotoMai-Tai recipe!

Inside or out? That’s the decision you have to make when heading to Trader Sam’s. The speakeasy-style cocktail bar has two options to choose from, the Terrace or the Grog Grotto. If it’s your first time, definitely opt for the Grog Grotto. The wait may be long, but the show inside is definitely worth it. If you’re like us, you can head upstairs to Tambu Lounge and have a backscratcher while you wait. Beyond the amazing cocktails, Trader Sam’s is serving up a variety of taste apps. Our favorite is definitely the pan-fried dumplings. Well, let’s get to our Trader Sam’s HippopotoMai-Tai recipe before our ice melts!

  • 1 fresh lime

There’s more than one way to shake our Trader Sam’s HippopotoMai-Tai recipe. Below are a few substitutions, feel free to make changes where you see fit.

  • Replace Bacardi Rum with any gold rum. Our go-to is Appleton’s.
