Fact or fiction? All food taste better when enjoying it from a cone. Well, that’s what we’re here to find out. There’s not better place to test our theory than on west coast at Disney’s California Adventure and the Cozy Cone Motel. That’s right we’re heading to the other coast in today’s foodie review. Alright, let’s take a trip to Radiator Springs and and cozy up at the Cozy Cone Motel!
Where else would you find a cone, other than in Radiator Springs. That’s right we’re off to Lightning McQueen‘s favorite place to hang out. Walking down the main thoroughfare towards Radiator Springs Racers, you’ll find the Cozy Cone Motel on your lefthand side. With 5 giant construction cones, it’s hard to miss. This quick-service location is more of a walk-up counter, with food designed to enjoy while on the move. Perfect for cars! There are a few picnic tables spread around the area if you’re looking for a place to rest your feet. Speaking of feet. You’ll definitely want to watch your toes, as Lightning McQueen has been known to roll by the Cozy Cone once and awhile. Even cars get the munchies!
Rolling up to the Cozy Cone Motel you better be ready for some hard choices. First hard choice, what type of treat are you in the mood for. With everything from sweet treats like ice cream and “route” beer floats to savory options like pretzels and flavored popcorn, or the famous options at the Chili Cone Queso window. For our first-ever trip to the Cozy Cone Motel we had to go with the Chili Cone Queso window.
Walking up to the window we thought we knew what we wanted, but we faced another tough decision, chili or bacon mac ‘n cheese or BBQ pulled pork. Yeah, we weren’t kidding when we said tough decisions. For this trip, we went with the namesake and got the Chili Cone Queso. Beyond the great pun, all the options are served in a bread cone. Some may even say a cozy cone. In the DVC Duo house, there’s nothing cozier than bread. Our Chili Cone Queso cone was filled with beef chili topped with cheddar cheese and corn chips to add a little crunch. Alright, time to take that first bite!
A spoon full of goodness! Need we say more? Ok, we’ll elaborate. We found the chili to have a richer flavor and without having an emphasis on the spice. On a spice level, we would say it’s around a three. The corn chips add a good amount of saltiness and texture to the dish. It remained us of a Frito-pie. If we could change one thing about the dish it would be the cheese. Trust us we enjoy cheese. Where it fell a little flat was how the cheese was not melted. For us, what makes chili great is the stringy melted cheese you get when you dig in. With the corn chips on top is made it hard to mix in the cheese and create the melty experience we love. We would definitely get the Chili Cone Queso again, we may just ask for the corn chips on the side so we can mix in the cheese to the warm chili.
We always love a grab and go meal. The Cozy Cone Motel is the perfect spot to grab a quick bite before heading to Radiator Spring Racers or just exploring Disney’s California Adventure park. If you’re looking for a more filling snack we definitely recommend stopping for a cozy cone. We would say it’s a must-try within the park, similar to the corn dog in Disneyland. Next time around we’re definitely trying the bacon mac ‘n cheese cone. Alright, I think we got an answer, fact!
