Jump for joy! Well, may more like a leap for joy, but that doesn’t roll off the tongue as smoothly. Why are we leaping, Nate? We’re leaping because we’re back with another installment of our Disney at-home cocktail recipes. This time around we’re traveling around the world, World Showcase that is, to share our Rose & Crown Leaping Leprechauns recipes. Who says you can only find drafts in Epcot’s UK Pavilion? Similar to the Grand Marnier Orange Slush, this brightly color delicious delight is an eye-catcher, to say the least. In what can be only described as electric green, this cocktail has been getting the party started since 2010. Alrighty grab those shakers and ice, it’s time to whip up our Rose & Crown Leaping Leprechauns Recipe!
Located in the Rose & Crown Pub at Epcot’s UK Pavilion is one of the more unique cocktails around the World Showcase. In a pub known for pouring a proper pint, is a cocktail that is no longer on the menu. You could call it a secret menu item! Or, maybe not, as it’s a Disneyphile all-time favorite drink. With the drink no longer being on the menu, all you’ll need to do is ask the bartender at the Rose & Crown Pub if they’re able to make it, majority of the time they are. At the Rose & Crown Pub, there are two ways to enjoy your drink either inside listening to Carol Stien tickle the ivories or outside rocking out with the British Revolution. You can’t go wrong with either option. Alright let’s get to the shaking!
Rose & Crown Leaping Leprechauns Recipe
- 1 oz of Jameson Whisky
- 1 oz Don Q Cristal Rum
- 1 oz Skyy Vodka
- 1 oz Melon Liqueur
- 2 oz of Sweet and Sour Mix
- 3 oz of Sprite
In the DVC Duo house we like to make our own sweet and sour mix. Here is our homemade recipe:
- Add 1/2 cup of sugar and a 1/2 cup of water to a sauce pan. Bring to boil to dissolve the sugar. Then add 1/4 cup of fresh lime juice and 1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice. Let cool.
We’re ready for our Rose & Crown Leaping Leprechaun Recipe
- Fill cocktail shake halfway with ice
- Add Jameson Whisky
- Add Don Q Cristal Rum
- Add Skyy Vodka
- Add Melon Liqueur
- Add Sweet and Sour Mix
- Shake until it’s too cold to hold
- Top with Sprite
There are a variety of ways to make the Leaping Leprechaun. Here are a few variations, feel free to make substitutions where you see fit.
- Replace Don Q Cristal Rum with any Silver Rum
- Replace Skyy Vodka with any vodka (we prefer Grey Goose)
- Use any Melon Liqueur, Midori is most common
- Use pre-made sweet and sour mix
We recommend enjoying this cocktail while listen to your favorite British music or British Disney podcast!
