“Blue Milk”, the drink of choice for smugglers, pilots, bounty hunters and galactic travelers alike. For years, we’ve dreamt of grabbing a seat in a cantina far, far, away. As part of Star Wars Galaxy Edge our dreams will come true at Oga’s Cantina. A new alien proprietor is opening a cantina at Black Spire Outpost on the planet of Baatu. We’re less than a year away from enjoying a otherworldly beverage and out of this world delights. Grab a seat in your favorite shady corner, we’re gearing up to share everything we know about Oga’s Cantina.
Every smuggler needs a safe haven where they can sit down and drown away the sorrows of their most recent adventure. On Baatu, Oga Garra is opening a cantina for just that. Well, with one exception, a strict code of conduct for all patrons. We all know how rowdy smugglers, pilots and bounty hunters can get! Guests of Oga’s Cantina will be surrounded by a cast of the galaxy characters telling a story or two from their adventures. You could see aliens, pilots and stormtroopers all rubbing elbows, you just never know who may show up.
What makes any cantina a success is the music, and Oga’s Cantina is no different. On stage we’ll find none other than RX-24. Looks like he found a new job as the cantina’s quirky, maybe too talkative, DJ. For any Disney historians, you may recognize RX-24, better known as Rex, from his time as a pilot of the StarSpeeder 3000 over at Star Tours. After his retirement he had to find new work and looks like he decided on spinning records.
The Food and Drink
Every new land needs a signature drink, and Star Wars Galaxy Edge is no different. Oga’s Cantina will be serving up many exotic drinks and libations inspired by the galaxy, with the drink of choice being “Blue Milk”. This won’t be you’re 2% milk with blue dye either, Disney’s culinary wizards and mixologist are working on recipe that would make Luke proud. What we’re still not sure about is if there will be two versions, a non-alcoholic and alcoholic, of the drink. We do know there will be at least a non-alcoholic version, as Oga’s Cantina welcomes galaxy travelers of all ages.
What’s still mystery is what Oga’s Cantina will be offering for food options. The DVC Duo believe the cantina will be similar to Trader Sam’s at the Polynesian Resort, where the focus is on the drinks and only light snacks and apps are offered.
At the moment it is unknown if you’ll be able to make advanced dining reservations for Oga’s Cantina or if will be first come first served.
This will be no ordinary cantina. Rumor has it there will be a variety of interactions with storytellers, and bartenders alike, that will create Disney “magical” moments. The cast members working at Oga’s Cantina will be transformed into the galaxy’s memorable aliens, and bounty hunters. Rumor has it, some will undergo movie level makeup to create the different characters. What makes it truly magical will be how the cast members will know you based on your reputation as a pilot. That’s right, depending on how well you pilot the Millennium Falcon your reputation will follow you throughout the land.
Oga’s Cantina could easily be come the star of Star Wars Galaxy Edge. Both Rise of Resistance and Millennium Falcon Smuggler’s Run are shaping up to be great attractions, but the interactions you’ll have in the cantina could really take that Disney magic over the edge – Galaxy’s Edge that is. We’re really excited to see what the drink menu will feature. Based on the recent lounges opening around Walt Disney World, Oga’s Cantina could become one of the best.
