It’s all about the view! Recently, Walt Disney World announced a new IllumiNations Dining Package beginning on January 18th and running through the summer. With IllumiNations 20 year run coming to an end this summer we only have a few more months to enjoy the show. The package includes one the best viewing areas, and it got us thinking of the best places to take it all in. Grab your favorite World Showcase beverage and we’ll find us a seat for the show.
Starting at 8 pm nightly the IllumiNations Dining Packages includes dinner and drinks on the Rose and Crown Pub patio overlooking theWorld Showcase lagoon. Dinner is a 3 course meal from a prix-fixe menu including unlimited adult beverages. Taking a quick glance at the menu, a couple of DVC Duo’s favorites include the cheese plate, pan roasted Scottish salmon, and of course the fish ‘n chips. After dinner you’ll enjoy IllumiNations from the patio. Pricing is $85 for adults and $35 for kids and includes taxes and gratuity. You can find details on the menu and availability here.
Great Locations Around World Showcase Lagoon
The patio at Rose and Crown Pub is a fantastic location for IllumiNations, but what if you’re not in the mood for English fare? No worries, there are tons of great places to enjoy the show and each offers a unique perspective. Over the years, we’ve enjoyed the show from different vantage points and we’ve put together our top locations to enjoy the show.
Bridge Between U.K. and France
Our first stop on our tour around the world is just beyond the Rose and Crown Pub. Between the U.K. pavilion and France pavilion is the bridge connecting the two counties. This has been a DVC Duo go to location for watching IllumiNations over the years. It’s one of the only elevated viewing locations around World Showcase lagoon. The bridge offers unabated views of the action, with usually lower crowd levels. We would recommend arriving to this location about 30 minutes early, depending on crowds that day.
Passholder Insights: If you’re staying at either the Boardwalk or Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, it’s a short walk back to the resort from this viewing location.
Italian Gondola Area
Making our way around the World Showcase our next stop is the Italy pavilion. Situated between the Germany and American pavilions, the Italian pavilion has a wide open front area with unobstructed views of IllumiNations with Spaceship as your backdrop. If you’re looking for great pizza, stop by Via Napoli for a slice and create your own dining package. This viewing area tends to be a little more popular so we would recommend arriving about 40 minutes early depending on crowd levels.
Passholder Insights: Channel your inner Pocahontas and keep an eye on the direction of the wind. This location has great views, but tends to have the wind and firework smoke blow towards you. You may want to skip it if the wind isn’t in your favor.
La Cantina de San Angel – Mexico Pavilion
We’ve made it around the “world”, our last stop brings us to the quick serve area in Mexico. With a beautiful patio, grab a seat along the water for the show. This area has very limited seating, as the patio is covered leaving only the front row with views. You may have to “camp out” here for a bit for the best view. On the plus side, you can grab some awesome nachos from La Cantina de San Angel and a margarita or cerveza while you relax.
Passholder Insights: If you decide to “camp out” this location also has great views of the sunset, just don’t forget your shades!
Overall, the new IllumiNations Dining Package is a great value, especially if you’re planning on dinner at the Rose and Crown Pub. If you’re like us and enjoy creating your own dining package around the world, check out some these great viewing locations!
