No burgers, Sherlock! Well keep digging, Waston! Burgers? That’s right, soon there will be gourmet burgers in Animal Kingdom’s Dinoland at Restaurantosaurus. Over the past few years, we’ve seen Disney World revamping a lot of the quick-serve menus at all of the parks. No one is happier than the DVC Duo. We’ve seen new options like Woody’s Lunch Box and Satu’li Canteen, and menu revamps like at Backlot Express. After years in the stone age, could we finally see Restaurantosaurus excavated from its bad menu options? Let’s dig into what we know!
A Lesson In History
You can’t start a dinosaur article without talking about history. Buried in Dinoland USA, Restaurantosaurus is an original quick-serve location for the Animal Kingdom. Over the years, the menu has seen a lot of change. What the restaurant is probably most known for is serving McDonald’s food, from french fries to Happy Meals, to even rare items like a hot dog.
Today, the menu is simple. Burgers, chicken nuggets, and chicken sandwiches. The food does match the theme. Themed after a roadside restaurant you find near a carnival, Restaurantosaurus is filled with subtle details that can be easily overlooked. Walking up to the restaurant you may wonder why there is a basketball hoop and lawn chairs on the roof? As we talked about in our Indiana Jones article, the theme to this area of Dinoland is a roadside carnival run by jilted former students of the Dino Institute.
Passholder Insights: Next to Restaurantosaurus is the Boneyard. Each day at 10 am the Boneyard is opened in a unique way in a ceremony led by Donald Duck.
Gourmet Burgers? Um, Yes!
Is it August yet? The end of August can’t come fast enough. If you haven’t heard – a new land is opening at Hollywood Studios, Star Wars Galaxy Edge. Restaurantosaurus is piggybacking on the monumental occasion by kicking off its brand new dining experience built around burgers and sundaes. Ice cream and burgers – well you definitely got Nate’s attention.
The new dining experience will offer up a variety of unique burger options, as well as a chicken sandwich, and veggie burgers. Each of the burgers is served with the choice of french fries or onion rings. The real kicker could be the unique dipping sauces for the sides. We’re intrigued, we can’t wait to see what that could mean! Capping off the meal is a build your own sundae bar.
Passholder Insights: Outside of Restaurantosaurus is Donald’s Dino Bash featuring characters from Ducktales, Chip and Dale, Pluto, and of course Donald Duck.
The Good To Know Stuff
Restaurantosaurus’ new dining experience will not be available every day to start. When the experience kicks off on August 18, 2019, and for the first three weeks, the experience will only be available Friday through Monday. The quick-serve location will shift to a family-style sit-down meal, where reservations will be available through My Disney Experience.
What makes this new dining experience truly special is how the sitdown style meal will only be a quick-serve meal credit on the Disney Dining Plan. Priced at $22.99 per adult, the burger and sundae meal at Restaurantosaurus will rise to the top of the “best values” on the Disney Dining Plan.
It’s fantastic to see Walt Disney World change up the menu at Restaurantosaurus. The key to the meal will be the burger. If the burger measures up to the likes of Deluxe Burger at Disney Springs or Shake Shack, it could quickly become the go-to place at the Animal Kingdom. We’re excited to check out it. Be warned Restaurantosaurus, when you see Nate walking through the doors make sure the sundae topping bar is stocked and ready to go. Someone has a sweet tooth!
