Grab your hats and noisemakers! We’re talking New Year’s at Disney World. In a few weeks, we’re ringing in a New Year. A year where two new attractions will debut and we can’t wait to check them out. We’re looking at you Ratatouille and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. But, we’re here to talk about New Year’s at Disney World, mainly what’s new for 2019. Grab your caffeinated drink of choice. We’ve got our coffee, let’s see what’s happening!
What are we building on? We’re building on last year’s festive New Year’s Eve guide on ringing in the New Year at Disney World. In our opinion, it’s got some good tips on how to have a fantastic holiday in the parks. However, our opinion may be bias as…well…we wrote the fantastic article.
Passholder Insights: The Magic Kingdom celebrates New Year’s Eve on two nights, December 30th and 31st. We like to double-dip and go to the Magic Kingdom on 30th then another park on the 31st.
Rining In – Rooftop Style!
Why watch just one firework show when you can see multiple! On New Year’s at Disney World, the rooftop dining restaurants throw swanky soirees. Brand new this year is the Bienvenidos 2020! atop the new Destino Tower at Coronado Springs Resort. Hosted in Toledo, the event will have a Spanish flare with a flamenco guitarist, tapas, and the midnight toast with Spanish cava.

Not to be outdone. Disney’s Riviera Resort is putting on a rooftop event as well in the form of an Italian Masquerade called Mezzanotte. Bringing the European vibes to New Year’s at Disney World Topolino’s Terrace will have traditional musicians and vocalists from the Italian Riviera, and food-centered around French and Italian coastal offerings. The night caps off with a midnight champagne toast.

The party of all parties can be found at the Contemporary Resort’s California Grill. Overlooking the Magic Kingdom guests will enjoy an elegant evening of dining and a selection of 300 handpicked wines with over 50 of them available by the glass. The Californian influenced cuisine will be accompanied by a variety of entertainment that includes close up magic, artists painting portraits, and appears by a variety of characters including, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy.

Passholder Insights: Outside of the Magic Kingdom, we’ve found that you’re able to get into most parks later in the day. We recommend speaking with guest services the day before around the parks reaching capacity.
What About Us?
Don’t worry Boardwalk, we didn’t forget about you! They may not have a rooftop, but they do have balconies. New this year, Disney’s Boardwalk Resort, is hosting an event at the Atlantic Dance Hall. Dance the night away in a private event that includes special Epcot firework viewing (outside the park), and champagne toast. They may even be a sighting of Mickey wearing his favorite party clothes! Can you say tuxedo?
For details around the event, you’ll want to check out the following Disney page.
Passholder Insights: The Boardwalk has a ton of great dining spots. If you’re looking for a good meal in a less formal environment check out our favorite spot, Crew’s Cup.
Year after year, New Year’s at Disney World continues to grow. There is always something for everyone. If you’re looking to go all out that, you definitely can do that. If you’re more like us and looking for a fantastic meal you’ll find tons of options, like the Flying Fish New Year’s pre-fixed meal.
The big thing about celebrating New Year’s at Disney World is knowing it’s going to be busy. It’s one of the busiest days of the year. We like to remind ourselves that everything is going to take a little longer and we may not get in many more rides than our pre-booked FastPass selections. 10..9…8!
