Boo! back at you, Mickey! With fall upon us it means only one thing, no, not pumpkin spice everything, but rather it’s Halloween season at Walt Disney World! Who else could be the headliner than Mickey, at the infamous Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. While that park up the street looks to scare everything out of you, Mickey is throwing a bash for everyone. In this DVC Duo party guide we’re diving into every you need to know about Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. We’ve got our costumes and it’s time to trick or treat our way around the Magic Kingdom!
What Is It?
A party of course! Similar to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a hard ticket event only available on certain days between August 16th and November 1. That’s right, Halloween at Walt Disney World starts as the kids grab their backpacks and pencils to head back to school. For ticket prices and exact dates please check out the following link, as pricing varies on the date. Mickey’s party begins at 7 pm and goes through 12 am with a limited number of tickets each night.
Passholder Insights: With your ticket for the event you’re able to enter the Magic Kingdom at 4 pm if you don’t have a regular park ticket. This is a great way to get in a few of our favorite rides before all the festivities!
We’re Here For The Candy!
Is there anything better than free food? Well, if you’re Nate then yes, free candy! You’ve heard right, there’s free candy at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Spread around the different lands of the Magic Kingdom are treat trails, where kids and kids at heart can get their candy on. Using a complimentary bag, you’ll head down the treat trails where cast members fill your bag with the good stuff. The complimentary bags come in two options, standard and allergy-free. With an allergy-free bag, you’ll receive teal tokens that are redeemable at the allergy-friendly centers for a special treat.
New this year will be the Monsters, Inc interactive treat trail! Head over to Tomorrowland to check out the Halloween version of Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor.
Passholder Insights: Candy and Florida heat are not the best of friends. We recommend putting your candy collection in the refrigerator in your room when you get back from the party.
Places! It’s Showtime
What’s a party without a show? No party we want to go to, that’s for sure! Similar to the Villains After Hours event, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party turns the castle stage over to the Disney Villains. Hosted by none other than the Sanderson Sisters from the DVC Duo’s favorite Halloween movie, Hocus Pocus, the stage show is a true Disney classic! The show goes off a variety of times throughout the night, with the first show tending to be the busiest.
Wait, there’s more to see. Over in Frontierland the Dapper Dans from Main Street USA, are switching it up both in location and name. Say hello to the Cadaver Dans! Singing our villain favorites like Cruella De Vil and The Oogie Boogie Song, the Cadaver Dans add a melodious backdrop for the event. We usually enjoy listening to a song or two.
Passholder Insights: The last show from the Sanderson Sisters is usually the best if you’re looking to avoid the crowds. It’s a great way to cap off the night!
Welcome To The Party!
Whate are we welcoming? The new fireworks spectacular for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. As we discussed in a previous article, Walt Disney World is switching up this year with a new fireworks spectacular. Disney World has kept a lot of the details close to the chest, but what we do know is the new show will be hosted by none other than the confused master of ceremonies himself, Jack Skellington. Rumor has it we may have an appearance from Jack’s cute pup Zero. Make sure to keep your eyes to the sky, you never know when Zero may fly by!
Passholder Insights: Similar to Happily Ever After, we recommend finding a spot in front of the castle. A lot of the new show will take place on and above Cinderella’s home.
Boo’s All Around!
It’s what we’re all here for, the parade! With a music track you’ll be humming for the next week, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party parade called Boo to You is amazing! The truly unique parade travels from Frontierland, through Liberty Square, before heading down Main Street USA. There is no bad place to watch, but for a few of our favorite viewing spots, check out the following article. The parade goes off twice a night, once at 8:30 pm and again at 11:00 pm.
In a fabulous surprise, Disney Parks announced the Boo to You parade would be expanding this year to include appearances from the Haunted Mansion’s spectral bride, as well as some of our Pixar favorites with the Incredibles and Buzz Lightyear!
Passholder Insights: Over the years we’ve found the later parade as the best option for lower crowds. Many guests will leave the party after the fireworks.
Events, In An Event?
No this is not a dream, or dream within a dream. Sorry, Leo. Brand new to the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party are events within the event. With the success of the dessert parties, Disney World is extending the parties to the special events. As an add-on to your Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party ticket, you can add a dessert party with a reserved viewing area for the new holiday nighttime spectacular. They will be two options to choose from, the Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace and Dessert Party with Plaza Garden Viewing. For pricing please check out the following link.
Beyond the dessert parties, Cruella De Vil is throwing her own party with Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, called Cruella’s Halloween Hide-A-Way. The new hard ticket event is an add-on takes place at Tony’s Town Square and will include reserved seating for the 11 pm Boo to You parade. Kicking-off at 9:30 pm, the 3-hour event offers up a buffet of both savory and sweet hors d’ oeuvres to enjoy while you meet the dog fan herself Cruella De Vil. You can wash it all down with either an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage. For more information on pricing please visit the following link.
Guests can come and as they please during the 3-hour event.
Passholder Insights: Guests of the event will have an extra 30 minutes in the Magic Kingdom after Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party ends.
The Extras! Rides
Oh yeah, with all the excitement we almost forgot! The majority of the rides and attractions are also open during the party! It’s a great time to find shorter lines for the more popular attractions. For the event, select classic attractions will have special Halloween themed experiences. Head over to Mad Tea Party, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Space Mountain for the unique experiences.
By far one of our favorite events of the year, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween is a total blast. From seeing both characters and guests don their Halloween costumes, to the array of villains in the park, you can’t go wrong with this event. We’re excited to see all the new aspects of the party this year. There’s one thing left to do, get our treat bags!
