When is the Festival?

The Festival of the Arts begins on Friday, January 18, 2019 and runs for 39 days (through February 25, 2019). The celebration wraps around World Showcase lagoon with food booths, art galleries, performances and much more. There may even be a magical photo op or two with a Disney PhotoPass photographer in various countries – here’s your opportunity to cross the Delaware with George Washington or be part of Renoir painting.

Disney on Broadway Concert Series

The centerpiece of the Festival of the Arts is the Broadway Concert Series at the America Gardens Theatre in the American pavilion. Brand new this year, Disney is expanding the Disney on Broadway Concert Series to everyday. Each day will have three performances at 5:30 pm, 6:45 pm and 8:00 pm. Every two weeks there will be a different pair of Disney on Broadway stars performing a variety of their famous songs. For a full schedule of performances check the dates here, as from time to time the schedule changes.

The highlights include performances from shows like Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, and many more. Seating is on a first come, first served basis if you’re not on the dining package. In our experience, the dining packages are fine if you want to secure your seat for sure, but usually that isn’t necessary to see the performances and to even get a decent seat. We would recommend heading over about 30 to 45 minutes prior to the performance to line up, depending on the performance and crowds that day.

Passholder Insight: If there is a specific performer you want to see we would recommend lining up for the 5:30 pm performance (if you don’t do the dining package). Just in case you don’t make it in, you’ll be line for the next showing. Definitely, ask the cast members if you’ll make it in, they usually know if you will or won’t.

Dining Package – Disney on Broadway Concert Series

Looking for a reserved seat to the Disney on Broadway Concert Series? We would recommend checking out the dining package. For all three performances each day, Disney offers a dining package that includes a three course meal and a non-alcoholic beverage at select Epcot restaurants and priority seating for the performance. This year there will be 5 different restaurants participating in the dining package and they include; Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, Biergarten Restaurant, Coral Reef Restaurant, The Garden Grill, and Rose & Crown Pub & Dining Room. To make reservations contact Walt Disney World Dining.

We’re Here for the Food!

Wrapped around World Showcase Lagoon will be 13 different food booths for the International Festival of the Arts. The booths will showcase the artistic side of the culinary world with chefs putting together edible pieces of art. It’s an Instagramer’s dream! Each of the food booths will have a different theme. Some example include deconstruction of a dish, or modern art inspired dishes, and even the fusion of food and wine.

In addition to the food booths, there will be the festival food studios with seminars, and workshops led by the masters of culinary arts.

The Visual Arts

When we hear the word art, what usually comes to mind first is the visual arts. If Disney is known for anything this would be it. To this day Walt Disney delivers eye popping visual experiences through animation, both hand drawn and computer designed. The International Festival of the Arts brings together both local artist and famous Disney illustrators to deliver a memorable experience utilizing both galleries and seminars. Additionally, spread around World Showcase are galleries displaying artwork from different nations.

If you’re like Nate and ever wondered what it’s like to an be a Disney artist, you’ll have the opportunity in the Animation Academy. In a classroom environment, you’ll learn the techniques of different art forms like animation and arrangement. More information to come on available dates.

Guests both young and old will be able to join Figment on the Brush with the Masters Scavenger hunt. Find Figment in a variety of famous works of art around the World Showcase! Make sure to mark-off your map with a sticker to earn your prize! You can pick up a map at the Odyssey Festival Showplace, Pin Central, Disney Traders and World Travelers. This is a great way to keep everyone entertained while exploring the Festival of the Arts.

The International Festival of the Arts is a great addition to Epcot. Tons of great art to see and experience in a variety of ways!
