The great food adventure! Our mouths are watering just thinking of our top 3 Animal Kingdom quick-serve spots. After heading out on our expedition to the top of Mount Everest and strapping for a flight on the back of a banshee, a little refueling is just what we need! Outside of Epcot’s quick-serve options, Disney’s Animal Kingdom is our next favorite park for grabbing a quick bite. Let’s get this food adventure underway!
Isn’t It Ironic
No, we’re not talking about Alanis Morissette. We’re talking about the name of the first Animal Kingdom quick-service location on our list, Flame Tree Barbecue. Walking through Discovery Island you can’t help but smell the different meat smoking away. You cannot smoke meat without wood. Hickory is best, but we’re not picky, we enjoy all the barbecue!
With a beautiful seating area that has grand views of the one our favorite Animal Kingdom rides, Expedition Everest, in the background, Flame Tree Barbecue is putting out solid que. Our go-to dish is the sampler platter, bursting with pulled pork, brisket and chicken it’s sure to fill you up. Each of the meats are cooked to perfection and paired with a more tangy, less-sweet sauce. If you’re looking for a delicious, filling meal, it’s worth checking out Flame Tree Barbecue.
Passholder Insights: During the holiday season Discovery Island is the center of the Animal Kingdom’s Christmas celebration.
To The Streets
Watch out streets of Harambe, here we come! And we’re hungry. On what the DVC Duo likes to call the side street of the Animal Kingdom’s African section of the park you’ll find our next best Animal Kingdom quick-service location, Harambe Market. Designed as an open-air market, the location serves a variety of African inspired street fare.
No bad choices here! A couple of our all-time favorites are the pork sausage and beef and lamb gyro. Both served as open-faced sandwiches on Naan bread, what we enjoy the most about these dishes are the toppings. After ordering you’ll find plenty of seating with ample shade to cool off from the Florida heat.
Passholder Insights: Harambe Market usually has long lines, we’ve found mobile ordering is the best way to go.
Bowling For Goodness
No special shoes required for the last stop on our best Animal Kingdom quick-service tour. Located in Pandora, the World of Avatar, you’ll find Satu’li Canteen. Themed after an abandoned RFA hangover, Satu’li Canteen is our favorite quick-service location at Walt Disney World.
What makes Satu’li Canteen fantastic is the array options and the ways you can build your bowl. With different protein, base, and sauce options, there is something for everyone’s taste. Our go-to is the grilled chicken and beef combo on the salad base, then mixed it up with the sauce. Variety, it’s the spice of life. Right?
Passholder Insights: The bowls at Satu’li Canteen are a good size and great for splitting if you’re for a lighter meal.
Not you’re typical theme park food. It’s wonderful to see Walt Disney World to offer such a variety of options, while still offering the classics. Time for the hard choice, which of our best Animal Kingdom quick-serve should we dine at? Who are kidding, save us a seat at Satu’li Canteen!
