The name says it all, Nomad Lounge. It’s the place where explorers, and theme park goers alike pull up a seat to share their triumphs, tribulations, and daily adventures. From the tales of catching a glimpse of the seldom-seen Yeti, to set out on a 28-day safari, to even taking the mythical flight on the back of a banshee, Nomad Lounge is the place to meet up in the Animal Kingdom. We’ve helped drop the rope and gone all day, now it’s time to kick up our feet, share a tale, and enjoy a well-deserved adult-timeout at Nomad Lounge. What’s your drink of choice?
Don’t Blink or You’ll Miss It!
It wouldn’t be a tranquil spot if it was out in the open. Hidden behind a plethora of foliage next to Tiffins Restaurant is Nomad Lounge. Often overlooked as guests race towards the most popular attraction at Walt Disney World, Flight of Passage, Nomad Lounge it’s situated at the entrance to Pandora, World of Avatar. Walking through the doors, stay left for the lounge or head right for Tiffins.
Walking into Nomad Lounge you’re immediately transported to an explorers outpost. You can choose from comfy chairs and couches either inside or out, or belly up to the bar for a chat with some of the best bartenders at Walt Disney World. (Say hi to Aaron for us!) Make sure to look up and all round once inside, the lounge is filled with eclectic items to check out. The area uses a variety of shades of brown to create the feeling of a hunters outpost.
Passholder Insights: A great way to recharge (or re-caffeinate if you’re Nate) is grabbing a seat on the deck and ordering up the French press. Nomad Lounge is serving up Kenya French press coffee pots!
The Main Attraction – Drinks
It’s what we are all here for the drinks! No, the food! Why not both?! Like any good meal, let’s kick it off with a great drink. No matter what your drink of choice may be, Nomad Lounge has got you covered. The bartenders are shaking up an array of crafty cocktails that are the perfect way to beat the afternoon heat both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
If wine is more your speed then you’ve come to the right spot. Like seeing the lion awake on Kilimanjaro Safari, finding great wine in a theme park is a challenge. Not at Nomad Lounge. Similar to Jiko over Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney World is bringing in a variety of South African wines to experience. Serena will take a glass of Graham Beck Blanc de Blancs, please.
Rounding out Nomad Lounge bar menu is the beer list. With beers from around the world, they’ve got something for everyone’s palette.
The Main Attraction – Food
You don’t just go here for the drinks, but also the food. Sharing a kitchen with Tiffins Restaurant, Nomad Lounge offers up a variety of small plates that you may or may not want to share with the family. Nate calls dibs on the last rib. On our last trip, we tried two amazingly elevated dishes for a lounge. The first was the smoked pork ribs. Served as 3 bones, the ribs were perfectly tender – not falling off the bone – pitmasters rejoice! After all, no one wants to pick up a rib and have the meat just fall off (competition no no). What made these ribs amazing was the sweet soy glaze and toasted sesame seeds. The sauce was just sweet enough but had a great salt from the soy sauce, and the toasted sesame seeds added just a bit of crunch.
Balancing out our quick bites was the tuna poke bowl. Yes, just yes. If you enjoy tuna, you’re going to want to order this dish. The chili mango marinade is everything you want it to be. You get just the right amount of heat from the chili, balanced by the tropical flavors of the mango. It’s a toss-up between the tuna nachos at Yak & Yeti and the tuna poke bowl for best tuna dish at the Animal Kingdom.
Nomad Lounge is serving up some amazing food and drinks in our favorite type of atmosphere. If you’re looking for a place to escape the crowds and relax while in the parks, look no further. The only thing left to do is decide which daily adventure you want to share first. Oh yeah, and of course choose your drink!
