Mickey’s Not So Scary Treat Review – We Treated Ourself!

At the Magic Kingdom for Our Not So Scary Treat Review

Treat yourself! Oh, we definitely treated ourselves. As promised in our Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Review, we’re back for Not So Scary treat review! We nibbled, we sampled, we tasted, some may even say we even indulged ourselves around the Magic Kingdom to find the top treats at Mickey’s party. Four of the delectable delights made our list of treats to bite into at parties to come. Our forks are in hand, let’s get our treat on!

In our Not So Scary Treat Review we discuss the Constance's For Better or For Worse Wedding Cake
Constance’s For Better or For Worse Wedding Cake

Don’t Trust This Bride

Or you could be next! Famed bride Constance from the Haunted Mansion is offering up some her wedding cake. You’ll find the bride’s dessert just outside the Haunted Mansion at the Liberty Square popcorn stand. Described as a citrus-scented cake with raspberry Bavarian cream, glacage, buttercream pearls, and flowers, topped by her chocolate axe, the cake is a sight to be seen. From a visual standpoint alone this treat is worth picking up, plus it’s large enough to easily split among friends and family.

But what does it taste like? We’re glad you asked, as this wouldn’t a Not So Scary treat review if we didn’t talk about the food. Overall, the cake was not what we expected, in a good way. A first glance we expected the cake to very sweet and sugar, and it’s definitely not. The buttercream adds a richness to the cake and balances the natural sweetness of the raspberry cream well. The cake itself is the standout of the treat, as it’s very moist and carries the dish. We didn’t get a lot of citrus flavors, as it may have been overpowered by the raspberry. One thing to be aware of is the texture of the glacage frosting. It’s a more creamy almost pudding-like texture compared to a traditional frosting.

Passholder Insights: While in Liberty Square one of our favorite Magic Kingdom attractions is a must during the Halloween Party, the Haunted Mansion.

We review the pumpkin spice soft serve as part of our Not So Scary Treat Review
Pumpkin Spice Soft Serve

Auntie’s Has Cool Treats

Galactic Goodies to be exact! Our Not So Scary treat review brings us over to Tomorrowland for our second stop. Across from the Tomorrowland Speedway is Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies. Auntie has two ice cream dishes that are worth the brain freeze. The simple, yet delicious Pumpkin Spice Soft Serve Sundae is a combination of pumpkin spice soft serve, caramel sauce, and candy corn. The award for most surprising treat goes to is this one!

The flavor profile of the sundae is what surprised us the most. Disney’s dessert chef took a simple sundae and elevated it to the next level. Most sundaes end up as sugar and sugar. Not this one, the pumpkin spice soft serve was more on the pumpkin spice side than the sweet side. It mellowed the sweetness of the candy corn and caramel to make a wonderful treat.

In our Not So Scary Treat Review we discuss the Pumpkin Milkshake
Pumpkin Spice Milkshake

We pair our sundae with the Pumpkin Spice Milkshake. The gluten-friendly milkshake is topped with whipped cream, candy pumpkins, and Mickey Mouse marshmallow straw. In our experience, gluten-friendly desserts are either hit or miss. The milkshake definitely had the sweetness you’re looking for and the pumpkin flavor definitely come through. It’s a little less pumpkin spice than the sundae, and little more the sweet side. What we really enjoyed about the milkshake was the thickness of it. Being from New England we’re used to milkshakes that are more on the thick side, almost ice-cream like, compared to a traditional milkshake. For us, this is definitely one to split.

Passholder Insights: A great place to see the construction progress of the Tron Lifecycle Coaster is from the Tomorrowland Speedway.

In our Not So Scary Treat Review we discuss the Headless Horseman Cheesecake
Headless Horseman Cheesecake

 Who Needs A Head?

No head needed! Topping our No So Scary treat review is the Headless Horseman Cheesecake. Over at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments in Liberty Square, the Horseman is serving up a dessert that’s worth trading a head for. Layering together pumpkin cheesecake and chocolate cake, the dessert is encrusted with an orange glaze, then topped with chocolate crunchies and Headless Horseman chocolate piece. This treat is worth ordering two, as you may not want to share this one.

Biting into the cheesecake you’ll first taste the flavors of the pumpkin, then followed closely behind is the chocolate. What makes this treat wonderful is that chocolate doesn’t overpower the delicate flavors of the cheesecake. We would say it complements it well. The real kicker is the orange, as it adds just the right amount of sweetness to the dessert. It’s like the perfect bite of fall. If you’re a cheesecake lover like Nate, this is definitely a must!

Passholder Insights: During regular park hours you’ll find Great Moments in American History with the Muppets performed in the windows above Sleepy Hollow Refreshments.

Our Thoughts

Bravo! Each year the treats at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party get better and better. They are really making it challenging to name our top treats for our Not So Scary Treat review. But, you know us, we like a good challenge. Beyond the sweet treats, you’ll find a variety of savory options, a couple of solid options are the Hades Nachos, which is a carryover from the Villains After Hours event. Additionally, the Lots-O-Burger is a great spin on the traditional Magic Kingdom burger with the brie fondue and strawberry-bacon jam. Bacon makes everything better, right? The party is about to end, time for one more cheesecake? Absolutely!
