It’s a jungle out there! The dense thick woods definitely makes it a decorating challenge for even the most experienced Disney decorator. The quietest theme park of the holiday is Animal Kingdom. I guess they don’t celebrate the holidays in Pandora. No ugly sweater parties for the Navi! Now that would be a sight! Walt Disney World is starting to incorporate the Animal Kingdom into the holidays with the addition of a holiday variation of UP! A Great Bird Adventure show. Let’s check out the holiday offerings at the Animal Kingdom.
Doug and Russell Celebrate Diwali
What is Diwali? For anyone that may not be familiar with this holiday, Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights taking place in autumn (November 7, 2018). At UP! A Great Bird Adventure with Dug and Russell there will be a seasonal show around Diwali. The show will begin November 8th and run until January 1st. Show times will vary every day so keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app for exact times.
With is this being a new show we will have “wait and see” what it entails. We do know it includes Serena’s favorite thing in the world, birds! (she does not li
Great question! Outside of the holiday version of UP! A Great Bird Adventure there is no other “special” holiday shows or attractions at the park. It doesn’t mean that the park isn’t decked out for the holidays. Walking up to the park entrance you’ll find one of our favorite Christmas tree on property. Every tree is uniquely themed to the park or resort, but there is something special about the Animal Kingdom tree. The ornaments and details are very subtle and testeful. Definitely take a close look at the tree as you may see a famous lion or two will hidden within the boughs.
Outside of the tree, the park is decorated throughout with a similar style of decorations as the main tree. It still feels “Christmasy”, just less things to check out.
The one unknown is whether there will be any adjustment to Rivers of Lights show for the holidays. At the moment there has been nothing announced. Fingers are crossed that Disney may surprise us with a nighttime holiday show!
Outside of UP! A Great Bird Adventure Animal Kingdom does not seem to have a ton going on for the holidays. We still love the rides and this may be a quieter time to get your Yeti fix. Perhaps combine this with a half day of checking out the resorts which we will cover in an upcoming blog!
